Second meeting of the Steering Committee of the health service Metropolitano Norte of Chile

In March 31st the second meeting of the Steering Committee of the project was held at the headquarters of the Department of Health of the Recoleta Municipality. This meeting took place within the framework of the multi-centric project funded by the European Commission and developed in Chile by the School of Public Health Dr. Salvador Allende of the University of Chile.

"The aim of the committee is to take decisions about the research process of the study, which includes the design and evaluation of interventions to improve coordination inter-levels" Pamela Eguiguren, Principal Investigator in Chile.

The establishment of the Steering Committee took place in March 17th at the Department of Health of the Recoleta Municipality. The Mayor Mr. Jadue opened the meeting by greeting the local health authorities including Mr. Lefio, Director of the North Metropolitan Health Service; Ms. Chadwick, Director of the Health Department of the Recoleta Municipality, Mr. Arteaga, Director of the School of Public Health, Mr. Cid from the management unit of the local network of the San José hospital complex and directors form the Family Health Centers (CESFAM) of the Commune, professionals of the Metropolitan North Health Services and the Department of Health of the Commune, as well as members Chile research team of the project. The first meeting brought together all the stakeholders who had worked from the beginning of the study, and was created as a meeting and work point in the territory of the network chosen as a Intervention Area of the project.

This space was created as a regular functioning structure, to crystallize a central methodological perspective for the study, the action-research, with the active participation of stakeholders of the network in the investigative process, including the design and evaluation of the interventions for the improvement of coordination across levels of care.

Pamela Eguiguren presented some preliminary results from the qualitative data collection made in the network of intervention. During the discussion, the attendees agreed in the identification of difficulties in the provision on health services network. At the meeting there were also shared some conclusions of the implementation of the pilot sample of the surveys of coordination and continuity of healthcare, which lead to a provision of information, and thoughts for the implementation phases of the professionals and users surveys.
