Equity-LA II results at the closing session of the CSC How to improve clinical coordination between primary and specialised care doctors?
2021-05-29
The closing session of the 20th anniversary of the Technical Sessions of the Catalan Health and Social Care Consortium (CSC) will be held on 12 November and will focus on how to improve clinical coordination between primary and specialised care doctors, with a look at the Catalan health system and Latin America. The session will be live and in webinar format at 2 p.m. (Spanish time), with free registration.
Improving clinical coordination between primary and specialised care physicians is still a pending task both in the Catalan health system and in health systems around the world. The search for effective strategies for care integration is a priority, especially in the current context of COVID-19, with strong implications for clinical practice and the relationship between care levels. Involving professionals in the selection and design of interventions allows them to be adapted to local needs and context, and is a facilitator of change. This will be the focus of the next Technical Session of the Health and Social Consortium of Catalonia (CSC), to be held on 12 November in webinar and live at 14h (Spanish time). This session, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the CSC Technical Sessions, closes the cycle of sessions of this 2020.
This session will be moderated by Francesc Cots, Parc de Salut Mar de Barcelona and member of the Healthcare Integration Assessment Group (GAIA), and will feature, on the one hand, GAIA speakers Ingrid Vargas (Health Policy Studies and Prospects Service -SEPPS- CSC) and Mercè Abizanda (Pere Virgili Health Park), who will introduce the analysis of the integration of GAIA care, and Elvira Sánchez (Servicios de Salud Integrados Baix Empordà) and Laura Esteve (SEPPS), who will analyse the main difficulties in the use of coordination mechanisms and suggestions for improving the clinical coordination of doctors in the Catalan health system. These are partial results of the COORDENA.CAT project, which has the general objective of analysing coordination between levels of care in different healthcare settings in the Catalan public health system.
On the other hand, the session will feature presentations by Pamela Eguiguren from the University of Chile and Amparo Mogollón from the University of Rosario (Colombia), who will present the results of the Equity-LA II project, which aims to evaluate the effectiveness of different care integration strategies, designed and implemented through participatory action-research processes with health professionals, to improve clinical coordination between levels of care and the quality of care in Latin America.
The session will end with the contributions of María Luisa Vázquez, director of SEPPS, with a discussion and conclusion of the most relevant aspects addressed.
