2021-05-26

The week of 12 October took place the 16th World Congress of Public Health, in which María Luisa Vázquez, from the Spanish CSC team participated as vice-president of the EUPHA Migration and Health group and as a member of the International Scientific Committee, and where the recent results of the Equity-LA II project were presented.

The 16th World Congress on Public Health, organised by the European Public Health Association (EUPHA), the Società Italiana di Igiene, Medicina Preventiva e Sanità Pubblica (SItI) and the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA), was held for the first time in virtual format between 12 and 16 October. The congress was attended by more than 3700 participants from 125 countries around the world who submitted 1480 individual papers.

Two papers were presented in poster format. The first Outcomes and conditions for sustaining changes of Participatory Action Research interventions analysed the impact of participatory interventions (PAR) on care coordination in public health networks, and their sustainability and transferability in five Latin American countries. The results show improvements in coordination and related factors and also indicate the conditions necessary for their sustainability and applicability in other contexts.

The second, Effectiveness of interventions related to continuity of health care in five Latin America countries showed the impact of the interventions implemented on the perception of continuity of care between levels of chronic patients in the public health care networks analysed. The results reveal that the level of perceived continuity of information and continuity of clinical management increased in the intervention network, with some differences between countries.
