Results of the Equity-LA II project at the 11th European Public Health Congress in Ljubljana (Slovenia)

Two members of the CSC team, María Luisa Vázquez and Aida Oliver, presented the results of the Equity LA II project at the 11th European Public Health Congress, which took place in Ljubljana (Slovenia) between 28 November and 1 December, under the slogan Aires de cambio: hacia nuevas formas de mejorar la salud pública de Europa (https://ephconference.eu/). The congress was attended by 65 countries from all over the world and more than one thousand attendees (1650).
María Luisa Vázquez, principal investigator of the Equity-La II team, presented the oral communication Using participatory action research to improve care coordination in Latin America healthcare networks, on the role of participatory action research in improving the coordination of health services. Communication focuses on evaluating the participatory process of designing interventions to improve clinical coordination between primary and specialized care.
Aida Oliver, project manager and research assistant of the CSC team, presented a poster, Care coordination across levels in Latin American public healthcare networks: a cross-sectional study, with results of the knowledge and use of different healthcare coordination mechanisms of health professionals from the six participating Latin American countries, which shows limited implementation and diverse areas for improvement.
The congress concluded its 11th edition with a closing session dedicated to the importance of universal health coverage as a requirement to ensure equity in health in the countries of the European Union.
