Results of Equity LA II at the first World Congress on Immigration, Ethnicity, Race and Health

The results on the influence of the country of origin and ethnicity / race on the perception of coordination (doctors) and continuity of care (users) across levels of care in three Latin American countries were presented at a global level, in the context of The World Congress on Immigration, Ethnicity, Race and Health. In particular, two communications were presented: Differences in perception of continuity of care between population and ethnic / race minorities: a cross-sectional study with chronic patients in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico, signed by L. Ollé-Espluga, I Vargas, I. Samico, P. Eguiguren, I. Cisneros, ML Vázquez; and Doctors' perceived coordination of care across care levels according to country of origin in public healthcare networks of Brazil and Chile, L. Ollé-Espluga, I. Vargas, I. Samico, P. Eguiguren, M. L. Vázquez.
The congress brought together 746 participants including researchers, health professionals, managers, civil society, NGOs, as well as representatives of international organizations: the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Organization for Immigration (IOM), the European Commission. 692 communications from 51 countries around the world were presented and also published in a supplement of the European Journal of Public Health. The World Congress on Immigration, Ethnicity, Race and Health was held in Edinburgh from 17-19 May, under the theme "Diversity and Health" and was the first worldwide congress celebrated about this theme. It replaced the 8th European Congress biannually organized by the Migrants and Ethnic Minorities Health section of the European Public Health Association.
