Seminar on experiences of integration of care in health services networks in Latin America

On February 27, 2018, University of Rosario and the Integrated Sub-regional Health Services South and South West, attached to the Ministry of Health of Bogotá organized in Bogotá (Colombia) the seminar "Experiences of Integration of Care in Networks of Health Services of Latin America". The objective was to present the interventions for improvement of coordination and continuity of care, designed and implemented, based on the results of the analysis of coordination and continuity in study networks.
The seminar was attended by 122 professionals and managers, from different health services networks affiliated to the Ministry of Health of Bogotá. Also, representatives from the Departmental Secretariats of Cundinamarca and Tolima, Private Health Services Providers, academics and master students in public health.
Authorities from the university and the health networks chaired the inaugural act: Dr. Gustavo Quintero, Dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Rosario, Dr. Victoria Eugenia Martínez Puello, manager of the Integrated Sub network of Health Services Southwest, Dr. Liliana Cepeda, director of Hospital Services of the Integrated Sub-Region of Health Services South. In addition, representatives of the Equity LA II project, Dr. M. Luisa Vázquez and Dr. Amparo Mogollón, principal investigators of the project, presided the event.
The seminar began with the presentation of the analysis framework for the integrated health networks, and the results of the baseline study developed in the Latin American countries participating in the Equity LA II. Later, the principal investigators of the respective countries presented their interventions. Their implementation in Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, and Colombia relied on a participatory action research approach. In Colombia, the professionals who participate in the process presented their experience during the design, planning, and implementation of the interventions. Members of the research team from Colombia and Spain moderated the panels and managers of the different health service networks of the city of Bogotá commented them facilitating the discussion between the panelists and the seminar attendees.
The final event of the seminar was the launch of the book "Integrated health services networks in Colombia and Brazil was. A case study ", which includes partial results of the Equity LA precursor project. Dr. María Luisa Vázquez and Dr. Amparo Mogollón presented the book also supported by the commentary of by Dr. Francisco Yepes from the Institute of Public Health of the Pontifical University of Javeriana.
