VIII International Workshop of the Equity-LA II project, in Colombia

The University of Rosario in Colombia hosted the VIII International Workshop of the project between February 19 and 28. All the researcher teams joined the workshop along with the health services managers of the participating countries, the members of the local steering committees and the members of the international scientific committee (Jacques Girard, University of Laval, Canada and Soledad Barria, University of Chile).

The preliminary results of the interventions evaluation process constituted the main content of the workshop. The attendees discussed the impact of the interventions designed and implemented in each country to improve coordination between levels of care of public health networks. Most of the interventions aimed at improving communication between professionals from different care levels creating meeting spaces for joint clinical discussions to foster mutual knowledge and trust and improve the joint management of patients.

Furthermore, a public seminar on strategies to improve coordination and continuity in health service networks in Latin America was held to present the project's progress to the authorities and members of the municipal networks of health services and to the general public. This seminar counted with the participation of more than a hundred professionals, of health service managers as well as academics from different parts of the country.
