II Conference on Best Practices in Network Integration • Intervention Network in Chile

The past 6th and 7th December, the 2nd Conference on Best Practices in Network and care coordination cases was held in Santiago, Chile, organized by the North Metropolitan Health Service (SSMN) and its network, with the collaboration of the Public School of Health of the University of Chile, leader of the Equity LA II project in Chile.

These seminars were established with the purpose of contributing to the integration of the Northern Metropolitan Service Network (RISSMN), by creating a meeting space to share of collaborative experiences between levels of complexity led by professionals, within the framework of the project in Chile.

The event was opened by the Director of the Service Dr. Alfonso Jorquera and the Minister General Secretary of the Government Paula Narváez and had 200 participants, most of them health professionals and directors of the Northern Network.

Throughout two days the professionals presented and debated the different projects developed between care areas of the network, primary and community care, secondary care and also with the inter-sector. Moreover, in order to exchange opinions, the foundations were laid to establish new collaborations within the network. It was an excellent framework to discuss the new network challenge for the adequate approximation of the implementation of the new IVE law. Two interventions were presented in the framework of the Equity project: inter-level visits and virtual consultancies, moderated by Dr. Pamela Eguiguren, PI of Chile,

Dr. María Luisa Vázquez, general coordinator of the project, participated as an international speaker discussing the possibilities of attention improvement using inter-level coordination interventions and disclosing the scope and progress of the project.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Bernardo Martorell, Chief of the Primary Care Division, of the Sub-secretary of Assistance Networks of the Ministry of Health, who highlighted the importance of strengthening and consolidating the efforts to improve collaboration among various areas of attention to contribute to the quality improvement and finally to the end-users’ health.
