Results on Continuity of care presented at the X European Congress of public health

Marianna Vitaloni, member of the Equity LA II team of the Consorci de Salut i Social de Catalunya (CSC), attended the X European Public Health Conference held in Stockholm, between the 2nd and 4th of November. Under the slogan "Sustainable, resilient and healthy communities", the congress counted on around 1600 participants, including public health professionals, managers and decision makers from 73 countries around the world.

In a session dedicated to health systems challenges and innovations, Dr. Vitaloni presented the communication "Users perception of relational continuity of care in six Latin America countries healthcare networks". The results show that chronic patients of the public healthcare networks analyzed perceived high relational continuity of care with their primary care doctorsmainly, but also with secondary care doctors in the six countries. Likewise, some individual factors were identified as responsible for differences in the perception of the relational continuity of care with doctors of both levels of care. Among them: education level, self-perceived health or use of services outside the network.

She also presented the communication ”The COORDENA questionnaire for measuring clinical coordination among health care levels in Spain", which summarizes the results of the pilot phase of the COORDENA-CAT project, The objective of this study is to adapt the COORDENA questionnaire, developed by Equity LA II, to the Catalonian national health system apply it to analyze clinical coordination across primary and secondary care levels. The results of the pilot study show that the questionnaire is a valid instrument to assess clinical coordination across care levels in Catalonia and also reveal that there is room for improvement.
