Prins Leopold Instituut voor Tropische Geneeskunde


The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) of Antwerp is one of the centers world leaders of training, investigation and assistance in tropical medicine and in sanitary attention in countries in development. In whole, the institute gives work to next to 340 workpeople (48 in public health, of which 34 scientists), technicians and personnel of support.

The Department of Public Health is structured in 5 units: Political Sanitary, Financing, Political Public and Management, Quality and Human resources, Epidemiología and Control of Illnesses and Nutrition and Infantile Health. His priorities of investigation centre on the sanitary attention on the countries of low revenue, the essential beginning of the primary attention (the fundamental right of any person to gain access to a few effective services of health and of high quality) and the search of added value and innovation in the design of the international political ones of health. The lines of investigation of the department understand the analysis of the political ones of health, access to the attention, quality and human resources and control of the illness.
